OMG THEY ARE FUCKING AWESOME! ALL OF THEM.

'scuse the French but I am bouncing up and down here in excitement.

I have a request though. During the Sunday Q & A Karl actually said to me at one stage "of course it had to be you" If you could fit that quote onto no 10? *bats eyelashes prettily*

The other running 'joke' between he and I all weekend revolved around "12 inches" :D He kept trying to deny it, I kept reminding him.

3. is too perfect as he was doing the Xena crawl along the bed towards Caesar moment from Hercules in the photo.

Hee!

Ok, sorry to cut in here, but I just need to ask:

"12 inches" running joke between you and Karl? WTF? Please explain? *pretty please* :D

Someone asked him about the dolls etc and he commented about the 6 and 10 inch dolls and which ones would you prefer? There was already a little bit of innuendo about playing with oneself in relation to having a doll. Well, me being who I am, I added in 12 inch to the conversation. Just that morning I got Karl to sign my 12 inch McCoy (still in his box). There was a little look of shock on his face at my mentioning 12 inches. I plastered on my best innocent look as I was talking about the dolls... A little bit of banter back and forth about children being present. The man has a dirty mind or was probably thinking about Captain Fine.

So on the Sunday the dolls get a re-mention, again he says 6 and 10. I don't keep my mouth shut and help him out by mentioning the 12 inches again. I get a "don't you start, there are children present" and a finger point. I was helping him out about the dolls ;) No innocent look this time, I think my expression was best described as cheeky as all hell.

:D

LOL!

Thanks for sharing!

And yay for his (and your) dirty mind!

My mind is pure as the driven snow. *looks innocent* Oh hell, who am I kidding, anyone who has read any of my stories would know otherwise. :D

I was technically right, there is a 12 doll. I finally found a kirk too! I got my original one signed cause I thought if there is no kirk he will just have to stay in the box. Then there was a kirk hiding in one of the stalls, so I HAD to get it. Which meant I then had to get another McCoy so that the boys can now play together.

Yeppers! They are hard to find here in Australia. Mostly they just have McCoy and Spock!Prime available.

A US friend went to ToysRUs, bought them and got them shipped to me. It was quite expensive but I love to have all my favorite boys with me! :)

Yes! They are hard to find here. (Or maybe it's because I live in a small town like Newcastle and we don't have as much variety as in a capital city) It annoys me because I don't think publicity for Star Trek was extensive enough so you don't get toys or posters or anything like you would with Star Wars or Transformers (still!) even though they haven't released movies in a while .... well Transformers have and SW have the series I think.... but still! I want to buy my little cousin Kirk and McCoy and Spock action figures!... So that I can play with them when I see him at my grandmas house.... Lol.

We have kollectable kaos here in Adelaide and they have a huge range of stuff, great thing is that they do online orders. I know from talking to them that certain stores got certain toys. Like the STXI phaser etc you could only get through Target and Big W. Companies do that deliberately so you have to go to diff places to get stuff. I can't believe how much transformers and that gear there are in the stores, like you said, and so little ST.

That's so evil! Yet interesting and something I would expect to hear on Hungry Beast (man I loved that show!)

I haven't really gone shopping much tbh though, so I can't say I've looked too hard. But yeah, as far as I can remember we don't actually have that many stores in Newcastle so that one would sell what the others don't. And I doubt that they sell that much merchandise now, nearly a year after it was released. But yeah, I was a little disappointed at the marketing because I was hoping it would get kids back into the old series and stuff too. Not just into the new film. Not that I've seen the Original Series. *Sigh* I will one of these days... like... in June when I have semester break.

Oh you must watch TOS! Ignore the shaky sets and Shatner occassionally remembering to act or as I know some others like to call out at the screen when he does so, ACTING! The stories and the characters are just so much fun but also intelligent. Been so long since I have seen a group of characters just sitting around a table and discussing things.

Kollectable Kaos has a lot of hte older stuff which was nice when I was putting the costume together.

Oh! I definitely plan on it!!! I saw the first four episodes while my family was overseas and I was on break last September. So I'm going to rent out more when I finish uni for the semester.

And it was funny, the bits I saw. Didn't mind the set so much. I just want to see this legendary relationship between Kirk and Spock ... although I think this ship has me predisposed to liking TOS Kirk and McCoy more.

well I have a nice little contact for TOS information in a friend who knew Majel and is friends with DC Fontana and the other writers from TOS. Anytime I want to know anything I can ask her. :D

Spock is asexual according to those writers and anything written by David Gerrold has an undertone of Kirk/McCoy. The quote I gave to Karl on the weekend proves that Gene intended a threesome and what I see in TOS is more Kirk/McCoy, McCoy/Spock moments than Kirk/Spock really. MCoy is the true heart and the one that links Kirk and Spock together. Plus De could just do the most awesome eyesex with all characters.

From what I can gather the epic Kirk/Spock was a fanon push more from the way that Shatner and Nimoy were so friendly off camera and at cons than anything I have picked up in watching TOS. I mean the first ep with Nancy, Kirk acts totally like McCoy's boyfriend. I was not expecting that at all, but it's there.

A friend made me go to watch STXI as she uses me as her slash proofer. She has faith in my characterisation seeign glasses and if it's there I will tell her and if it ain't, she listens. She was expecting the K/S in the new movie and so surprised it wasn't there, hence her wanting me to go and check it out. I did and came away shipping Scotty/Sandwich and Kirk/McCoy. :D I see absolutely no K/S in the new movie. JJ killed it DED.

Haha, I love those little connections - I have a friend who is the godson of the last Tsar of Russia's sister.... Not quite... related to the fandom but made my little Imperial Russian history buff heart go squee! (As shown by my username... which I very much want to change since I made it a few years ago and feels very... 12-year-old-girl-ish)

Oh good, so I wasn't imagining things! Because even in the first four episodes it seemed to be more Kirk/McCoy than anything else.

:D Yes I was wondering about this note. I saw it in the pictures and read it in the report. (But I haven't read the full report yet, so it'll be in that, maybe?) I'm hoping someone posts a podcast on the Supernova site like they did with last years talk with the mic-job. But yeah, I heard it had something to do with the Kirk/Spock/McCoy relationship and wondered if it mentioned the threesome and Karl's reaction to it/had any idea prior to the note.

Oh, I see, well I'm still sort of interested as I'm going to do an assignment on Fandom (and somehow relating to audiences) so I'd like to include TOS in there seeing as it was a huge part of the beginning of Fandom.

Well, you're lucky you have a friend like that. I really wish I actually had someone I could talk to like that! Even if it's just any sort of fandom and not slash *sigh* but for some reasons my friends don't want to talk about it with me, which was very frustrating in the months/weeks leading up to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Also, that's one thing I saw in the movie and was like... wth? I don't get it, what's this K/S everyone's talking about?! Actually, my gay friend saw it and made a passing comment after class one day that everyone in it was gay... which means I'm going to be quizzing him sometime soon regarding WHO he thought was gay.... I just hope there's more McCoy in the next movie and especially more K/M friendship at least, and they don't just dis it to concentrate on this "epic" friendship.

Very nice to have connections :D

Oh yeah I was the same going where is it? There are a couple of episodes where you can see their friendship clearly but mostly it was the three of them in some form.

[livejournal.com profile] julianmoore has created what I can't really call a macro with the pic of karl reading the note and the quote on it. I have just posted it in it's own little post on my LJ :D I am bouncing up and down about it. It is too perfect!

Your article should also look at Sherlock Holmes and how the first fandom was almost exclusively men. There were very select clubs where they would write their own SH stories back when the novels were first released!

I have a lovely little group online that we almost talk daily and squee about ridiculous things but all of us also meta a bit about the shows/movies that we love. I call them my insane musketeers.

There was epic K/M friendship in the movie, I mean Bones getting him onto the enterprise and him liking Spock at first cause he got one over on Kirk. I loved all those little things with the pair of them. There is just so much to play with from the movie, but Kirk and Spock to me are too antagonistic and really don't like each other at all until Spock Prime tells Kirk he HAS to be friends with him and yet that he needs to make Spock really, really angry. Spock by the end has some respect for Kirk, I think but they are only at the beginning of a possible friendship. It isn't there yet.
